Dear Chelsea Elementary Community,
Happy December!
This month begins with a student-led fundraiser on Friday, December 2nd. Freya Dutka, Rosemary Smith and Ms. Melanie have organized a popcorn sale to raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis. We are so proud of these students/staff for their efforts to support others.
Ms. Goulais and a team of volunteers have prepared our school library for class visits. Students visit with their class and can access an abundance of fiction and non-fiction literature. A big thanks to the volunteers who support story time activities and the operation of the library!
Students have moved into term 2 and classrooms are busy exploring the curriculum, digital literacy skill development, and important ‘buddy class’ opportunities.
Our cycle 3 volleyball team is preparing for the WQSB tournament and lunch clubs (i.e. chess, Lego, BOKS, Dance, Destination Imagination) are in full swing.
Once again, the Home and School Association organized a spirit wear campaign in November. Orders have been distributed to students and this campaign does so much to raise school spirit and student sense of belonging.
The Chelsea Value in December is generosity. Whether it is the gift of time, friendship, or a physical item, teachers will be sharing with students the importance of giving to others. We will also be raising awareness around the diversity of cultural celebrations that take place at this time of year.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday and all the best in 2023!
Sincerely,
Andrea Gage
